Washington, DC (Dec. 3, 2018) — The Better World Campaign joins our fellow Americans and the international community in honoring the life and work of President George Herbert Walker Bush.

“President Bush leaves behind a profound foreign policy legacy,” said Peter Yeo, President of the Better World Campaign. “Through his words and his actions, he showed the power of coalescing nations to pursue common goals.”

President Bush was the only President to have previously served as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. During his presidency, he enjoyed a strong, personal relationship with then-UN Secretary-General Javier Pérez de Cuéllar, whom Bush would call for insights and advice.

“He understood instinctively how the UN complemented American interests,” Yeo added. “While we mourn his passing, his effectiveness as a world leader will be inspirational for generations to come.”
