In Their Hands: Women Taking Ownership of Peace spotlights women peace activists as seen through the lens of women photographers.
Women across the globe are working to prevent conflict and build peace. These women mediate with armed groups, negotiate, and help implement peace agreements, advance political solutions, advocate for women’s rights and participation, and lead nonviolent protest movements. Yet women are too often excluded from formal peace processes.
Through the photographs of 14 women around the world, In Their Hands shows why women’s inclusion is essential to achieving and maintaining a lasting peace.
