Washington, D.C. (Aug. 20, 2018) – The Better World Campaign joins with our colleagues at the United Nations and the UN Foundation in mourning the loss of our friend and leader, Kofi Annan. Mr. Annan served as Secretary-General of the United Nations from 1997 to 2006, during the administrations of President Bill Clinton and President George W. Bush.
Mr. Annan served as UN Secretary-General when the UN Foundation was created. Kathy Calvin, President of the UN Foundation, said, “His unrelenting dedication to peace will not be forgotten and will forever serve as a mandate and inspiration for us all.”
Peter Yeo, President of the Better World Campaign added, “Kofi was the very model of a humanitarian. A man of strong actions and gentle words, his vision helped revitalize the United Nations at a critical time. He was an inspiration to world leaders and citizens alike. We will honor Kofi’s life by continuing his extraordinary legacy of service, committed to the principles of peace and human dignity.”
