Washington, D.C. (Oct. 9, 2018) — Better World Campaign President Peter Yeo today issued the following statement on the resignation of U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley:

“Over the past two years, Ambassador Haley was critical in ushering in UN reforms – in close partnership with the Secretary-General – around development, management, and peacekeeping operations.

“While there were areas of great contention between the U.S. and the UN, and American financial arrears to the UN have grown dramatically, she played an important and constructive role in maintaining U.S. leadership at the UN.

“As to what comes next, we call on President Trump to nominate an individual who will continue Ambassador Haley’s efforts to strengthen the UN, not retreat from it, while fostering a strong partnership with UN Secretary-General Guterres.”
