Letter to Congressional Leadership on Supporting the Central African Republic in FY’22

Share

On April 21, thirteen organizations wrote to House and Senate leadership urging them to support peace, justice and recovery in the Central African Republic in FY’22 appropriations bills.

The ongoing crisis, the groups write, highlights the need for strong and collective action. Central Africans continue to experience mass violence and instability at the hands of armed groups, several of whom escalated their attacks significantly in December 2020 in an attempt to disrupt national elections.

Right now, the United Nations estimates that more than 1.5 million Central Africans—nearly one-third of the population—have been displaced from their homes, and 41 percent of the population faces acute food insecurity.
