Washington, D.C. (June 6, 2011) – United Nations Foundation President Timothy E. Wirth released the following statement today on the news that Ban Ki-moon will seek a second term as UN Secretary-General:
“Secretary-General Ban has led the United Nations during a critical time of change and opportunity. Today more than ever, the UN is bringing together new partners to advance innovative solutions for critical global problems. The United Nations that the world depends upon every day does not shy away from the new challenges facing our world. “As he looks to a second term as Secretary-General, Ban’s priorities for the UN point to some of the key issues that demand global attention.
