Tell Congress You Support the UN’s Work in Ukraine

The war in Ukraine has triggered one of the fastest-growing displacement and humanitarian crises ever. Within six weeks, more than 5 million refugees have fled the country, while a further 7.7 million are displaced internally.

Devastating human rights abuses are ongoing with no end in sight. Food and drinking water shortages are reported in pockets across the country, especially cities bearing the brunt of the ongoing conflict.

In lockstep with the U.S. government, the UN and its agencies remain on the ground providing much-needed support to the Ukrainian people. Let Congress know you support this ongoing partnership in the region.

As you are likely aware, the ongoing armed violence and rapidly deteriorating security environment throughout Ukraine has put millions of lives at risk.

More than more than 5 million Ukrainians have already fled the country, and the United Nations estimates that thousands are fleeing to neighboring countries each day. Of those who remain, an additional 7.7 are displaced internally.

Gross human rights abuses are the new norm for the Ukrainian people who fear for their lives. Food and water shortages have begun, especially in cities the most besieged by conflict.

Amid these dire circumstances, the UN and its agencies are on the ground in Ukraine and in neighboring countries, providing a lifeline to people in need thanks in part to U.S. support. The World Food Programme, the UN Refugee Agency, the UN Children’s Fund and other members of the UN family are working to help provide food, water, hygiene supplies, shelter, and education opportunities for Ukrainians who have stayed and those who have fled.

We cannot forget the people of Ukraine and we cannot forget that the UN remains an invaluable partner in the region.

At this time of crisis, will you pledge continued U.S. support for the United Nations and its agencies, as they work to provide desperately needed assistance to the Ukrainian people?
