Since January 20, the Trump Administration has reassessed America’s approach to foreign assistance. In what has become the largest restructuring of aid in the nation’s history, thousands of UN-administered programs have lost U.S. funding, resulting in the halting of services and large-scale layoffs. Not only is U.S. foreign assistance lifesaving, but most Americans agree that it’s the right thing to do to strengthen economies and democracies abroad. We trust that policymakers will reevaluate recent cuts, understanding that foreign assistance isn’t charity. It’s a smart investment in America’s security, economy and global standing.
