On Feb. 3, President Trump signed into law a bipartisan spending package that provides near-full support for U.S. dues to the United Nations and peacekeeping operations in Fiscal Year 2026, alongside significant investments in global health. The legislation underscores a continued commitment to U.S. leadership abroad, even in a constrained fiscal environment.
“It’s a win for the U.S. – and a win for the UN,” said Peter Yeo, president of the Better World Campaign. “We appreciate the leadership of President Trump for getting this over the line, and the bipartisan work of appropriators in both chambers.”

Yeo noted that the legislation reflects a shared understanding across the Administration and Congress that international engagement remains central to U.S. security and economic strength.
“The bottom line is influence,” Yeo added. “This funding ensures the U.S. can prevent conflict, respond to crises and shape the international rules that affect our security and prosperity.”
Yeo also emphasized that funding for the UN regular budget and peacekeeping allows the Administration to continue backing programs that align with U.S. priorities and deliver concrete benefits for Americans. “You can’t advance American foreign policy from the sidelines,” he said.

Overall, the bill provides roughly $50 billion for U.S. international engagement – a strategic investment at a time of rising global instability. Within that total, $9.4 billion is dedicated to global health, strengthening defenses against infectious disease that protect Americans at home and save lives abroad.
“In a tight budget environment, this legislation sends a clear message,” Yeo said. “U.S. leadership abroad – and influence inside key institutions like the UN – remains a bipartisan priority.”
