Washington, D.C. (Aug. 3, 2017) – Better World Campaign President Peter Yeo issued the following statement on the confirmation of Kelley Currie as the new U.S. Representative to the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations:
“We applaud the Senate’s confirmation of Kelley Currie. She will be a welcome and important addition to Ambassador Nikki Haley’s team at the U.S. Mission to the UN.
“Ms. Currie has been a champion for human rights, development, and humanitarian issues for more than two decades. Through her work on Capitol Hill, in the Executive Branch, and in civil society, Ms. Currie has demonstrated a deep understanding of the importance of international collaboration to tackle the world’s most complex challenges. She has also witnessed the work of the UN first-hand, and understands its unique role on the global stage and how the UN system is built on burden-sharing that ensures the U.S. does not have to go it alone.
“We look forward to working closely with Kelley Currie as she begins work at the U.S. Mission in New York.”
