Washington, DC — The Better World campaign joins the nation and the world in honoring the life of the 39th President of the United States, Jimmy Carter.
“President Carter lived a life of enormous impact,” said Peter Yeo, President of the Better World Campaign. “He kept human rights at the center of American foreign policy during his presidency and continued to focus on human rights and democracy in the four decades that followed.”

Carter was awarded the Nobel Peace prize in 2002 for his efforts in peace negotiations and advancing human rights and democracy.
President Carter will be remembered, too, for his work on neglected tropical diseases, leading an effort to nearly eradicate Guinea worm disease and other preventable diseases, relieving suffering and saving the lives of millions in developing nations.
“We lost a statesman and a true humanitarian,” Yeo said. “We honor his memory by continuing to work toward a more just and equitable world for all.”
